Manifesto

When I ran my first art gallery, I had several in-depth conversations with master artists who shared their wisdom on the true purpose of a gallerist. My main take on that was simple: a gallerist, above all, proposes the work of artists to an audience.

This proposal, especially when working with young and mid-career artists, has many layers—or it should: potentiality, innovative perspectives, clarity in the why, skills in the how, and a curious exploration with a level of clarity in the what. Parallel to that, a gallerist needs to have a good understanding of the market, sales, and promotion.

There is always a risk involved in this, balanced by the anticipation of great rewards.

All of this must exist within a framework of honesty and integrity towards both the artist and the buyer.

This philosophy stayed with me over the years, and it sits exactly at the core of Diego Correa Art Space.

Diego Correa Art Space presents the work of emerging and mid-career artists, anchored occasionally by the work of established masters to create a clear frame of reference for creators and viewers alike. Every selection is mine, guided entirely by my knowledge, sensibility, and vision. What feeds this selection is a relentless pursuit of technical quality, clarity, merit, commitment, and the integrity of the artists as reflected in their work.

I am entirely uninterested in gender, political views, religion, sexual preferences, race, or activism. It is the quality of the work—and solely the quality of the work (skill and clarity)—that drives my decisions. I am fiercely committed to that standard.

With this in mind, my aim is to build a space of honesty that supports talented, dedicated artists and inspires their growth. For buyers and collectors, Diego Correa Art Space offers total transparency, an independent perspective, and a commitment to presenting artwork that has been rigorously analysed through a lens of values, knowledge, and artistic sensibility.
